The porous quality of the material facilitates
rapid drying and permits play to begin much sooner than would otherwise be
possible.
An afternoon shower will not rain out that night's game.
Low Maintenance:
Low maintenance Red Dog Infield Topping means that
maintenance people will not have to fight a continuing battle to keep the
skinned area clear and ready for baseball.
Reduces Injuries:
The soft, pliable surface acts as a lubricant for sliding.
This property means a lower tendency toward both twist and bruise type
injuries as compares to harder, sticky surfaces.
Easy Shaping:
Areas that receive the most traffic (e.g. around the base)
can easily be brought back to a smooth condition by dragging or ranking.
Attractive Appearance:
The red color of the material and neat edges of the skinned
areas give the diamond an attractive and well maintained look.

Red Dog Infield Topping as supplied by Red Dog Track Inc. Strawn, Texas
Material:
Red Dog Infield Topping is a custom blend of naturally
occurring ferrous oxide, clay, and sand that is red in color. It is blended
and
shipped ready for use.
Coverage:
The material weighs from 90 to 95 pounds per cubic foot.
Since the material is sold by the ton, a convenient rule for coverage is:
"One ton will cover 200 square feet, one inch deep."
Application:
First, strip and shape the area to be covered. Then the Red
Dog Infield Topping can be spread with any kind of blade equipment
and compacted by rolling. It is best to contour the skinned area with a
slope or crown to improve drainage.
Other Uses:
The best baseball fields also have a skinned warning track
around the outfield and foul fences. Red Dog Track Materials Topping
is the best medium for this area. In addition, this red material makes an
attractive maintenance free landscape.
